Eleven years ago, my search for a classic, yet contemporary Indian clothes line in Hong Kong left me frustrated. What I found here was sadly disappointing-inferior quality of Indian clothes, sarees, salwar suits, kurtis and other ethnic wear being sold at super expensive prices where the price tags retained their numerical digits but the currency symbol changed from INR to HKD. This means that the garments are being sold at more than 8 times the cost of the price in India. I believe, the same experience is felt and shared by many of us outside India.
This drove me to think of and conceptualize my own clothes line for the cosmopolitan people here and other parts of the world. Moreover due to payment & logistics restrictions many Indian retailers shy away from delivering to other parts of the world. Hong Kong being one of the most prominent business windows to the rest of the World, we at Potpourri have opened our doors to like-minded people.
Indian, cotton, linen, silks at their best and at reasonably affordable prices finally took shape in the name of Potpourri in 2017.
